Carmen Brown, MHA CEO
Carmen Brown began her professional career as Special Education teacher in Passaic, NJ. In this role she realized the health and social disparities and the impact they had on all members of the family. In 2014, her father was diagnosed with cancer and was given 6 months to live. She realized that there was a huge gap in the care that her father needed and the care that he received. His final days were comforted by the help of a home health aide and not by doctors. After this personal experience she returned to school to earn a Masters in Healthcare Administration degree to learn more about the healthcare delivery industry. In 2015 she moved to Pennsylvania to take on a new role as an Administrator for a home health care agency. Longing to return to her roots in Hudson County, she accepted a new position as a county Director for a large non-profit home health care organization in Jersey City. After gaining experience operating and managing for profit and non-profit organizations, she realized that large organizations sometimes overlook clients in low-income neighborhoods. She saw a need for services in the Greenville section of Jersey City and the need for job opportunities. Being a resident of Greenville, she decided to serve her community by opening up a local home care agency. She is now focused on growing NJ Home Health Care to one of the largest home care agencies in Hudson County and providing job opportunities to adults re-entering the workforce. . She has also returned to school again to earn her RN license. In her free time, she works with non-profit organizations to help seniors and individuals with disabilities with food insecurities.
